Hey all,
I've had R6V2 for the PC for a few months now. My PC is dual booted with XP and Vista, and I chose to install R6V2 on XP, because that is for gaming, whereas I use Vista for homework and such. Anyway, the game continually has this problem, where at some point in the game (a random point), the image shakes for a moment, then blue screens. This isn't the blue screen of death, it's something different. I don't know what it says, because it only flashes briefly before the computer restarts. Anyway, I installed the game on Vista, and so far it has not had that same problem, so I am thinking about switching and playing it on there instead. The only problem is that I have made quite a lot of progress through the game, and I don't want to start anew. So, my question is, Does anyone know how to transfer the profile from one game install to another? I would like to keep my equipment, and I don't care if the profile on the other install I am transferring to is overwritten. If anyone knows how to transfer or a fix to the blue screen problem, please let me know!

Thanks,
LeLoup_Garou

The files are the same (as far as I know), but kept it different locations. I don't have Vista so I can't tell you exactly where to look, sorry.

The files are the same between what and what? Between game installs? I know that they are the same between installs , I just need to know which ones to copy and paste. I know they're in the Rainbow Six game folder, I just need ot know which ones to copy and paste.

P.S. Sorry about the name of the post, I never know what to name posts.

Vista hides game and other software data in a folder called ProgramData. It is also a hidden file if I remember right. While I do not have Vegas or V2, check in there for the game data (XP is C:/Documents and Settings or something similar) you are looking for. Sorry that I can not be more helpful.

Okay,
Thanks for the help so far, I think I know what I need to do know. I figure I am gonna have to spend some time searching for files on Vista, after finding them on XP. The last thing I need to know is which files do I have to copy and paste? Is it just one called GameData? Or are there multiple?

You're probably going to need the following folders/files from an XP install...

Vegas2/KellerGame/Config/PC
Documents and Settings/AllUsers/Application Data/Ubisoft/Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas2

Alright!
Okay, so I did the file transfer, and although the file paths that you provided weren't exact, it got me on the right track and I found the two files. I copied and pasted, and viola! I now have my R6 profile on my other install, the one that doesn't mess up and have problems. I just did it (Literally like 5 minutes ago) and I only tested it a little, but so far it works fine, and I have my rank and my equipment and everything. Here are the file paths that I copied from and pasted to for future reference:

1st XP file: Ubisoft/Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2/KellerGame/Config/PC - copy and paste PC file
2nd XP file: (Your Username)/My Documents/My Games/Ubisoft/R6Vegas2 - copy and paste R6Vegas2 file

1st Vista file: Ubisoft/Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2/KellerGame/Config/PC- copy and paste PC file
2nd Vista file: (Your Username/My Documents/My Games/Ubisoft/R6Vegas2 - copy and paste R6Vegas2 file

What I thought was wierd was that they both ended up having basically the same file paths. The only difference is that they look a little different in ways of contents and where your User file is. Anyway, thanks for all the help, I let you know if anything changes!

Hi

Are you sure about that one? In my XP install there are no Ubisoft games in the My Games folder, they are in the Application Data folder....

I dunno, that's where I found it. I have my computer dual-booted, I'm not sure how that would affect it but it could be that. I double checked and that is indeed where the second file is.
